Entrevista Exclusiva: Sammy Merendino

CLS-Você trabalhou em quatro álbuns de Cyndi Lauper ("Shine", "At Last", "The Body Acoustic" e "Bring Ya To The Brink").

Obrigada Sammy!!!

English:
Sam Merendino or Sammy Merendino is a dedicated drummer and music producer. He worked with such artists as Roberta Flack, Foreigner, Carly Simon, Cameo, Billy Joel among others. Worked with Cyndi Lauper 2000 to 2010, stuck in the memory of fans with his great solos, grimaces and striking black shirt. This year Sammy left the band due to Cyndi album "Memphis Blues" in which Lauper preferred playing with musicians in the genre experts blues.

Let us not forget that Sammy was in all the work of the last decade Cyndi: "Shine" (2002), "At Last" (2003), "The Body Acoustic" (2005) and "Bring Ya To The Brink" (2008 ). Gave his studio to Cyndi and is a collaborator of songs like "Lyfe" from the album "Bring Ya To The Brink" and "Bee Charmer," a duet of Cyndi Lauper and Nellie McKay.

Very friendly and approachable, Sammy answered five questions about the ten years with Cyndi:

CLS-First, how are you and what are you doing currently?
S. Currently recording and producing various artists in NYC. Playing on sessions as well. Also recording and doing some live shows with my band-the Harlem Parlour Music Club.

CLS-When and how was invited to work with Cyndi Lauper?
S. I first met her at my studio during the recording of a song for a Rugrats movie she had co written with Mark Mothersbaugh from Devo. After the session she invited me to play drums on the Shine album and subsequently become a band member.

CLS-Have you worked on four albums by Cyndi Lauper ("Shine", "At Last", "The Body Acoustic" and "Bring Ya To The Brink"). Of them all, what's your favorite and why?
S. Shine was fun, being the first, we did a lot of experimenting on that one. Body Acoustic was a nice relaxed record. I really enjoyed the organic nature of it. BYTTB was my least favorite of them all.

CLS-Did you have any funny situation during the ten years with Cyndi for a concert or recording?
S. At a concert in Boston Cyndi was holding a note and a bird flew by and made a deposit right in her mouth. She was very good natured about it.

CLS-What did you think of the Brazilian public in 2008 when he was here?
S. Loved the Brazilian fans. Am looking forward to playing in SA again.

Thank You Sammy!
